Whether it occurs in transit, or from the manufacturing process itself, there is always the risk of contaminants in a bottle or can prior to filling. Risks include trims from blow moulding, broken glass from transport of the bottles, swarf and other metals in can-making, or simply dust or insects during storage and transport. Contamination DOES occur, and risks of related product recalls can be significantly reduced with appropriate cleaning of the products, preferably immediately prior to filling.
